Do not smear on the floor, but go around: the iRobot Roomba j7 + robot vacuum cleaner has learned to recognize pet feces

Undoubtedly, a robot vacuum cleaner is one of the most useful achievements of civilization, but there are situations when it brings more headache than good. This is especially true for pet owners. Surely, you are familiar with the story when the pet did not run to the toilet and put a pile right in the middle of the room, and the robot carefully smeared it all on the floor, soiling itself and everything around in feces. But there is a solution: iRobot claims that its new Roomba j7+ robot vacuum will solve this problem.

This is no joke, but iRobot has been working on this for years. Competitor models Roborock S6 MaxV and 360 Smart Life also support this option, but, of course, iRobot is skeptical and says that no one can see feces like Roomba j7 +. This robot is assisted by machine vision and artificial intelligence. And also a long “training”: the vacuum cleaner reviewed a large number of realistic images and models of excrement.

Thus, having discovered an unpleasant surprise from a pet, the robot will go around it and inform the user about the find. By the way, the same applies to other items lying on the floor, such as cables, socks or headphones. Seeing such an object, iRobot Roomba j7+ will ask through the application what it is and what to do with it. For example, if this is a cable that will lie there further, the system will add it to the map, and the vacuum cleaner will go around it in the future.

New features have been added in the iRobot Genius 3.0 free software update, which is being rolled out today. As for the iRobot Roomba j7+ itself, its basic version costs $649, while the bundle with the base station will cost $849.
