Statistics

As of January 1, 2020:

Vodafone Ukraine is a leading Ukrainian telecom company that provides 3G and 4G high-speed Internet services. Vodafone's investments during the period of active construction of high-speed Internet networks in 2015-2019 reached a record figure in the market of UAH 24.5 billion. Today, Vodafone provides 3G coverage for 86% of Ukrainians, and 4G for more than 66% of the country's residents.

Record-breaking investments allowed us to secure technological leadership and develop new technological services — the Internet of Things (IoT), technologies and solutions for Smart City, big data analytics, Mobile ID, Fintech services, cloud services. In Ukraine, Vodafone services are used by 19.8 million customers.

Numbering capacity

Vodafone Ukraine has 4 network codes - 50, 66, 95, 99.

Historically, code 50 was introduced first, all contract subscribers and Sim-Sim subscribers had this code. Codes 66 and 99 were originally allocated to subscribers of the youth-oriented Jeans brand. Code 95 was used to expand the number of available Sim-Sim brand numbers. Subsequently, part of the 99 code numbers were allocated to subscribers of the Ekotel virtual brand.

At the moment, due to the exhaustion of the capacities of individual codes and the possibility of prepaid subscribers switching to a contract form, as well as the possibility of changing the operator, it is not possible to uniquely identify the type of Vodafone subscriber only by the network code.

High speed 3G/4G internet

The operator provides 3G and 4G high-speed Internet services.

In November 2007, MTS Ukraine launched the MTS Connect 3G service. For this, an old license for NMT communication in the 450 MHz band was used. The new 3G network was deployed using CDMA EV-DO Rev. A. Some areas have launched CDMA EV-DO Rev. Q. In this network, the company provides only data services, voice services are not provided.

On February 23, 2015, MTS-Ukraine received licenses for communication in the UMTS (3G) standard in the radio frequency bands 1950-1965/2140-2155. Until the end of the year, the company covered 19 regional centers of Ukraine with a 3G network: Kyiv, Uzhgorod, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Odessa, Kherson, Lutsk, Chernigov, Nikolaev, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovograd, Dnepropetrovsk, Rivne, Vinnitsa, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Kharkiv

In 2018, tenders were held for 4G frequencies: in February for 2.6 GHz frequencies, in March for 1.8 GHz frequencies. Also received a 4G 900 MHz license in June 2020. The first launch of a 4G network at a frequency of 2.6 GHz took place on March 30, 2018, and on July 1, the launch of a network at a frequency of 1.8 GHz began. At the end of 2019, Vodafone provided 3G coverage for 86% of Ukrainian residents, and 4G coverage for more than 66% of the country's residents.
