The Baltic States and Poland will offer the EU a new package of sanctions against Russia

Poland and the Baltic countries have proposed a new package of anti-Russian sanctions - the previous EU approved two weeks ago.They want to ban the import of any drones into Russia

Poland and the Baltic countries have developed a new package of sanctions against Russia, which includes a ban on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and restrictions on the import of Russian diamonds, Polskoye Radio and PAP reported citing the draft document.

Among other proposals is a ban on the import into Russia of all drones, including those used for civilian purposes. The authors of the project believe that even such drones can be used as support in a war zone.

In addition, according to PAP, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland will come out in favor of limiting the import of Russian liquefied petroleum gas.

The four countries will present their proposals on October 21 at the EU leaders' summit in Brussels.

The new package of sanctions the Baltic States and Poland prepared two weeks after the EU approved the eighth round of restrictive measures. It includes a ceiling on Russian oil prices, a €7 billion import ban on goods, and exports of coal and other goods to Russia. 

In addition, the new package provides for personal sanctions against representatives of the authorities of the territories recently annexed to Russia, businessmen and media representatives. EU citizens will also be banned from holding leadership positions in Russian state-owned companies, and Russians will not be allowed to use the services of European crypto companies.

The Kremlin has repeatedly called the EU sanctions ill-considered and stressed that they will first hit the European citizens themselves. “Obviously, no sanctions, even the toughest ones, have ever in any part of the world led to the fact that those countries against whom they are introduced somehow change their position,” Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
