Pridnestrovie turned to Russia for help due to gas shortage

The Supreme Council (parliament) of the unrecognized Transnistria appealed to the Russian parliament for help in connection with the reduction in gas supplies from Russia and the resulting shortage. This was reported by his press service.
“The Supreme Council considered an appeal to the Federation Council and the State Duma of Russia about the situation in the PMR (Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. -), informed about the introduction of a state of emergency in the republic, drew attention to possible negative consequences for the economy and budget of the republic,” said Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov.
The Pridnestrovian authorities did not specify what kind of assistance they were counting on, but expressed the hope that with the help of Russian partners "it will be possible to find the formula that can stabilize, and the situation will continue to develop normally."
Earlier, on October 21, the Supreme Council approved the introduction of a state of emergency in the economy for 11 days due to a shortage of gas, in connection with which industrial consumers began to receive less and it became impossible to produce electricity for export in the same volumes. According to the decree of President Vadim Krasnoselsky, during this period, gas will be supplied on a priority basis to household consumers and the Moldavskaya GRES. Parliamentarians announced a high risk of a general economic crisis caused by a 30% reduction in natural gas supplies to the republic.
Gas is supplied to the unrecognized Transnistrian republic through Moldova , which last autumn extended the contract for Russian gas supplies by five years. The contract established a calculation formula based on exchange prices, which implies a change in the cost of supplies from month to month. "Gazprom" pointed to the debt of Moldova for gas, but she blames Transnistria for this, which, according to him, unlike Chisinau, has not paid for deliveries for years.
On October 1, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Spinu said that Gazprom had reduced the volume of gas supplies to Moldova in October by a third, to 5.7 million cubic meters. m per day. The Russian company explained the reduction in volume by Ukraine's refusal to accept Russian gas at the Sokhranivka GIS. The company also complained about the violation by Moldova of the terms of payment for the supplied gas.
On October 4, Gazprom warned that with regard to Chisinau "reserves all rights, including the right to completely stop supplies in case of violation of obligations to pay for gas." The company also declared its right to terminate the contract at any time. On October 19, the Moldovan government issued a $54 million loan to Moldovagaz to pay Gazprom through the state company Energocom, which secured Moldovagaz's stake in the country's gas transport operator as collateral.
