An unopened first-generation iPhone in a factory film sold at auction for almost $40,000

The original first-generation iPhone released in 2007 was sold at LCG Auction.

What is known

The iPhone with 8 GB of storage (non-RAM) went on sale 15 years ago for $599. Adjusted for inflation, this is about $860, but at an auction for a smartphone, they paid ten times more.

For a very long time, the largest offer was $10,446. However, buyers became more active towards the end of the auction. The winner was a collector who offered $39,339.60 for the original iPhone.

The first generation iPhone was not only available with 8 GB of storage. The model was equipped with a storage capacity of 4 GB or 16 GB. Modern Apple smartphones in the basic modification offer users a 32 GB drive and 6 GB of RAM. The original model did not have an app store and acted as an iPod music player with Internet access and the ability to make calls.
